Argonne National Lab

So, after a long day of lectures is there anywhere I can throw away my sharps?

IMG_6524.JPG

A nice little sign on the lecture hall we used, it looks like we were in the right place.

"Omega Bellows" sculpture made from a bubble chamber.

IMG_6529.JPG

Also from a bubble chamber. Did you know Donald Glaser invented the bubble chamber while working at the University of Michigan?

Some geese in the parking lot and buildings beyond.

Alan in the parking lot out side the lecture hall.

Argonne Guest House room with huge windows facing a nice little wooded area.

IMG_6544.JPG

Looking out the window of the room, you can see another wing of the building, the patio by the dinning hall, and some woods.

IMG_6546_proc.jpg

Some random building that was somewhat nice looking.

These pipes run all over Argonne, in some parts up high above the roads. Periodically they do a wiggle like this.

More pipes somewhat near the main entrance.

The waterfall of Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve.

IMG_6559.JPG

A closer look at the waterfall after walking across it. It's no Niagara, but it's nice.

IMG_6564.JPG

I walked along the water downstream from the waterfall.

IMG_6565.JPG

A wide slow moving part of the stream.

IMG_6566.JPG

Oddly shaped fire pit.

It's nice that there is some topography, here I look down about 10 meters on the stream from a collapsing piece of the hill.
